I feel like Nulldrifter was undervalued. Though some of the unknown-at-the-time MH3 cards that support it weren't available... cards that do support it existed! It can be evoked to set off cards that care about 7 mana value colorless/eldrazi spells and then you can emerge at flash speed to get another cast trigger and have a big body.

I think ultimately the problem is wizards regrets magic's resource system and either has to tear down and rebuild the game or let every color ramp/get free crap. And if you want to play slower or if you're in a color that hasn't been brought up to the speed of the modern game yet then you probably have to either get used to losing, or ignore the goofy social norms against playing the counters to your meta and just burn people's lands sometimes. Magic was always, like, oh all my playgroup is playing mono black every game, time to maindeck karma, get over it.

Ondu inversion doesn't affect copy land. in fact, nothing that says "non-land" does. It's a land, after all.

40 lands is crazy, I don't run over 37 in any deck, muldrotha and korvald have 35-36 but every other deck, is rocking like 32-34, with yuriko running 30

I don’t play sol ring for the same reason I don’t play scute swarm: it draws too much Aggro for its value. All my threats are 5 mana, all my set up is 2-3, I don’t need it.

Opposition Agent played against Lord Windgrace landfall deck. Fetched a land. Following turn they fetched another land with OA still on the field. Blood was raging at this point. OA player had a free sac outlet to get rid of OA at anytime. An agreement was made, sac OA in exchange player and board wasn’t to be targeted for three turns. OA was returned to the battlefield and the landfall player just scooped. There was no stipulation regarding OA from coming back, just that it get sacced. Even worse scenario seeing Maralen hit the battlefield with Opposition Agent. After asking each other if they had an answer, they all said, “You win.”

So Arena of Glory could be comparable to the Shaman mechanic "Overload" in Hearthstone, so basically Overload says that you have X less mana on your next turn where X is the Overload, and having an Overload cost to give a creature haste (or charge in HS) seems 100% worth while in a generic sense, if I'm running a good amount of mountains in a deck I'd 100% run this.

PSA: the MTG Goldfish meta is not indicative of the overall Commander meta, and probably not your local meta either.

Why does Richard play anything other than lands. They might get removed so they are all trash. Also, only two colors can deal with enchantments well. Other than lands, they are the sticky permanent type.

Richard be like: "Yeah playing your Commander sounds nice but what if the next player just Farewells?!?!"

I had argent dais in sealed and it was really good for removing stuff. Obviously its very different than 4 player commander, but I cannot imagine it wouldnt be good. The other thing is that even if it doesnt recharge the oil, it means your opponents arent attacking efficiently.

I would be upset if someone blew up my copy land land because it's such a waste of resources, but Id be glad they used it there compared to something that actually pushes my gameplan. I would run it in simic since there are a bunch of good lands you could run in it.

Just a thought, maybe evaluate cards against the actual format and not your personal banlist meta. Claiming colourless mana is impossible in a sol ring/mana crypt format is kinda silly.

I was playing a 5 man commander game, and I oppositions agent the sissy deck at turn 4 going to find his 3rd land since I was in Rakdos colors and needed ramp to play my commander. He instantly scoops to not let me get the land

I play zof consumption just to tell the story that I won a match with it, it happened once and still have it on another deck just for that reason XD

(Seth) Since we recorded this podcast I've played with Arena of Glory a bunch in Modern and Timeless and I was wrong. The card is really good. You don't activate it very often, but when you do its incredibly powerful.

I hate Arena of Glory, but not for gameplay reasons. Exert is a mechanic for creatures. How do you exert a land? Does the Arena try extra hard?

I'm with Seth on Argent Dais. Not every deck, but: a relatively aggressive creature deck to ensure it keeps getting counters (regardless what opponents do), that probably doesn't want expensive draw, that probably doesn't want to run tons of removal, and that has disposable permanents. Doesn't seem particularly niche; I'm trying it in Dogmeat. It also combos with the new bird in the Assassins Creed set, that can exile itself (so, exile it for 2 cards instead) and then returns to play attacking when a legendary creature you control goes unblocked.

The only land Sowing Mycospawn can't fetch is Temple of the False God, because it was already in your opening hand

I also have a Venser Proliferate deck. I searched up Dreamtide Whale to see how it would feel in the deck. After it's first turn cycle, it had no less than 5 counters on it for the rest of the game, and gave other players incentive to help kill each other with poison.

So here's a thought about the comment of the week and the land base. the commander clash guys all choose a commander and each build a mana base for that commander, then someone else build out the rest of the 99 then you guys have a game with the built decks.

So what I'm hearing is because of Farewell.... Don't play Creatures, enchantments, artifacts, or graveyard starts lol I forgot Farewell is in every deck and is guaranteed to be seen 4x a game 😂

34:24 As long as you don’t have access to green or white, I’d argue Steal Enchantment is very playable. People also play Feed the Swarm to get rid of enchantments and the way I see it, Steal enchantment is even better

Spymaster's Vault, I was really not hyped about this card at all but I will add it to Nymris and I can see lines like: It is turn 7 or 8, someone pulls off a board wipe and Nymris is still in the command zone. I have at least 7 untapped lands. Everything dies, let's say 12 creatures. In the End Phase of that turn, I flash in Nymris and activate the Spymaster's Vault to draw 12 cards + discard 12 filtering through tons of cards. 2 Mana for this effect is very cheap since you can activate it whenever a critical number of creatures die.
